First Annual Preston County Recovery Walk 2025

In observance of National Recovery Month, local peer recovery coaches organized the first annual Preston County Recovery Walk on September 13, 2025. The community was invited to gather for the walk at the Kingwood City Pool, as well as explore several local support organizations exhibiting at the event, including DBSA WV. Then we walked through downtown Kingwood, spreading awareness, connection, and hope. Pictured are Stacey Weaver, Executive Director of DBSA WV, and Roger Neptune, administrative assistant.

4th Annual KICKIN’ IT FOR KATY

The 4th annual Kickin’ for Katy walk/run was held on May 3, 2025, at
Fairmont State University. This event along with other events hosted by the
Kickin’ it for Katy organization is a wonderful event that helps raise
awareness of suicide prevention and mental health, and all proceeds go
towards the Kaitlynn Jade Memorial Scholarship Fund to help students
pursue careers in the mental health field.
This was the 3rd year in a row DBSA WV attended Kickin’ it for Katy as a
sponsor and providing a resource table. DBSA WV was represented by
Executive Director Stacie Weaver and Administrative Assistant Roger
Neptune. We provided pamphlets on DBSA’s support groups for depression
and bipolar disorder, and resources on suicide prevention. We also passed
out DBSA WV flyers, ink pens, suicide prevention stickers, and stress toy
keychains.
We look forward to attending next year’s Kickin’ it for Katy walk/run and
hope to help spread the word so more people will attend next year to help
support an amazing organization and cause.
